This weekend I had my granddaughter, Madi. I realized that you realized that I am an older citizen chasing after a young one. We get up in the morning at 8 AM. I am cooking breakfast, eggs, sausage links, and toast. Of course she gets hot chocolate like I get my coffee. My son is a big tea drinker.
As soon as she gets up, she wants to go swimming. But before that, we decided to TEACH her some tennis. We want to broaden her horizons; Maybe she will be the tennis greats like Serena Williams, Coco Gauf, and Jasmine Paolini. Do we play tennis? No! We go through the routine of trying to hit the ball(s) back and forth and teaching the basics. 5 minutes, she was done. I was sitting down watching her and my son. We switched and I ended up playing tennis. Missing balls and balls to net. We were playing so badly, we had an audience watching. Some people were giving us balls.
After that we went to eat. Took my son out on Father’s Day. The dinner was tasty. Steak, potatoes, and salad at our favorite place, Longhorns.
The night was still young, so we went to Splashpad. There were a lot of people and kids. Something was going on with the Gen Zs. After the event, they decide to jump in with kids to cool off among the changing beautiful color lights and splashing water. My granddaughter had a ball in that water all night of course. At 10 pm, the water stopped, time to go.
Guess what? The next day we went down the street to the Water Park, you know the one with the twin pools and the double slides. My granddaughter, she had a ball. She’s a good swimmer, can dive and all. Maybe she will be like Katie Ledecky, an Olympian champion.
Thought: Time is short, go with the flow, enjoy yourself, and follow your heart.
